Newsletter Fall 2009 Board of Directors Nick Clemens, Pres. We want to thank everyone who participated in our Trap League this summer. The extra driving miles necessary and the ongoing road construction sometimes made getting to the Club a challenge on Tuesday evenings. But folks all managed to be in attendance and had a good time. A corn boil was held and awards were given out on Aug. 11th. Awards went to the following: Shooting Champion, Brad Rolstad (665), Second Place, Rick Baier (646), Third Place, Mel Denison (642) and Top Lady Shooter, Eva Spear (595). League was hardly finished and it was time for our 52nd Annual Labor Day Weekend Trap Shoot & Raffle. Your Officers were concerned because of the ongoing road construction, but lots of folks braved the dust and spent a relaxing day at the Club. The weather was perfect! We had lots of shooters with all three traps going. The last squads finished about 7:30 p.m. The Chicken & Pork Chop Dinners sold out early and all those delicious desserts disappeared, too. People also enjoyed playing the paddle wheel game. Kids were making good use of the playground equipment. All in all it was a good day. Your officers really appreciate those of you who pitch in and help. We could not have these fun days without you! Once again our local businesses donated many nice prizes for the raffle. THANKS to each and every one for your donation. We also appreciate all of you who purchased tickets. Sorry that we could not all be winners. Maybe next year! First prize of $500.00 donated by the Club was won by member Bernard O’Donnell of Sauk City. Approximately half of the winners were present and picked up their prizes and the balance were either mailed or delivered in the next week. The complete list of winners is posted on the bulletin board by the signup desk. With the help of a Friend, the complete list of Prize Donors and the Prize Winners is also now posted on our website. Thank You, Friend for your help! Check it out at www.merrconserve.com. Click on: Events, click on: See list of raffle winners. Pres. Nick will soon be working on updating the balance of the website. If there is something that you would like to see included on the site, give Nick a call. We will again be having our winter shoots on the last Saturday of the month, starting in January. Your new schedule card in enclosed. Shooting against a snowy background sometimes proves to be a bit challenging, but a lot of fun. The Club house will be nice & warm and the beer will be cold. The new Highway 78 should be completed by then, too. So, be sure to come out and join us. We again want to say “Thank You” to all of you who helped out at League and at the Merchandise shoots this past season. Also to the men who grill the chickens & pork chops, the gals who serve those great dinners, and all who bring in the yummy desserts. Perhaps you have noticed that we have a new stove and refrigerator in the kitchen. We have also replaced the oldest of our chest type freezers. All replace the very old already well used appliances that were donated many years ago. This is all part of our efforts to lower our energy usage and thus reduce the cost of our utilities. Jason Pearson & George Pearson updated the necessary gas line that was needed, and Eldon McDaniel completed some electrical work. The early a.m. coffee group is again meeting on Monday mornings. They have chipped in and donated a new coffeepot to the Club. I understand that they have some lively discussions! You are welcome to join them if you wish. |
